Visit to Duxford Imperial War Museum

Duxford

A long awaited trip to Duxford Air Museum this week.  A fantastic day out which made us feel truly proud to be British! A Spitfire was also doing an incredible aerobatic display while we were there.

Took way too many photos but this was one of Martin’s favourites featuring the RAF’s first Supersonic fighter – the English Electric Lightning.  Such a distinctive shape.  Seen here nestling underneath a Vulcan bomber which we were lucky enough to see in action whilst at Lincoln Antique Market in May.  Martin was in the midst of negotiating a purchase when it suddenly appeared overhead taking everyone by surprise.

Was surprising to note how many components we have from many of the exhibits on display.  Lots of work to do!

See our Runway Designs section for an English Electric Sign…

The range of aircraft and how it has been displayed at Duxford is truly impressive.  I’d recommend it to anyone with even a vague interest in aviation.  A must for children.  Allow a full day and wear comfy shoes there’s so much to see….
