Product Description

These Con Rods lay at the bottom of the sea for 40 years after the Spitfire aircraft they helped power crashed off the Dorset coast in November 1940.  On recovery, very little remained of the aircraft due to the corrosive  attack of sea water but the engine and propellers were buried in the mud and were in good condition.

The con rods has been patiently  and sympathetically restored by hand to bring a beautiful surface shine.  The original Rolls-Royce  inspection stamp can still be seen.

An eight day mechanical movement clock dating back to the same period has been fitted into a brass adaptor bush to create a beautiful timepiece.

This item forms an integral part of our V for Victory range and bears our bespoke hard enamel badge.  The base is hand crafted from English Oak.

Size of wooden shield – 40cm x 30cm.

This item will be presentation boxed and supplied with a folder documenting the history of the aircraft.
