Dated July 1940 - which was the month before the Battle of Britain started…
A laminated wooden propeller hub is from a Dehavilland Gipsy Major. This engine powered a variety of light aircraft during the 1930′s and 1940′s.
The laminated wooden sections can be seen by viewing the cut off top section.
There are two brass plates one on each side of the hub – one has the date of July 1940 the other has the DH Gypsy Major stamp plus reference numbers.
Size – 50cm high. 23 diameter in centre section.
Mounted on a wooden base and metal rod, this makes an eye-catching display item.
