Product Description

WW11 Rolls Royce Merlin Cutaway originally from a Merlin 66 that was originally fitted to a Spitfire V111.

This cutaway was completed by apprentices just after WW11 at Rolls-Royce Hillington built as the “Shadow Factory”  To keep the integrity of this piece, the original paintwork has been left untouched and the item has simply been lightly cleaned.

Sat on a revolving disc to enable it to be easily examined.  This piece is fascinating and actually surprising how many moving parts were involved within the assembly. We have included many schematics within the technical pack supplied with this magnificent piece.

The Merlin Engine evolved from a SU Carburettor to a Bendix Stromberg Pressure Carburettor with Anti G – During WW11 many aero engines adopted this type of carburettor as they provided accurate fuel delivery and prevented fuel starvation during negative G (Gravity) manoeuvres. This Mk 66 Merlin Engine was originally fitted to an MkV111 Spitfire.
