WWII Course Setting Bomb Sight – Mk VII. A rare item for an aviation collector.
Complete in its original box. The CSBS was an essential piece of equipment on Lancaster, Halifax and B24 Bombers amongst others.
The Mark VII had the addition of the Auxiliary Drift Bar. The drift wire was used to align the objects on the ground enabling the operator to calculate the drift angle when releasing a bomb accurately on target.
This piece of equipment would normally be located at the front of the aircraft in the ground view of the fuselage. The operator would lie face down to aim through the back sight. See photo showing this piece in action.
